«Cybersecurity» program open day

On Saturday, March 15, the main building of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv hosted the Open Day of the Cybersecurity program (Day), one of the most successful and innovative programs of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

This event began at the University Museum, where Maria Lepeh introduced future entrants to the history and present of the Franco university.

First, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Informatization of LNU, Vitaliy Kukharsky, addressed the participants of the Day , who welcomed all participants and spoke about the support of new educational innovative programs at the university. He also shared a modern vision of the development of the IT industry and support of educational programs in companies, spoke about the traditional holding of the Winter School DES (Data Engineering and Security) and the Summer English-language School on Artificial Intelligence, the organization of international programming Olympiads, etc.

Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics  Ivan Dyak spoke about the history of the faculty, its traditions, the specialties that can be obtained at the faculty, about famous graduates and their successes in the field of computer technologies.
Manager of the educational direction of the program from the IT cluster Yevhen Hirny   spoke about the educational program, the stages of its development, why it turned out to be so innovative and promising, and the participation of students of the educational program in team projects, mentoring and support of students, and the development of their talents during their studies;

Yuriy Musiyovsky , the leader of the information security team , one of the giants of the IT industry SoftServe, shared the requirements for those who come to work and work in a team, how important it is to be as prepared as possible, what are the prospects and opportunities for growth, and how to become a “guru” in this direction;

The head of the educational program, Petro Vengersky, focused on the features of the program, its advantages and differences from other similar programs, why you should enroll in this educational program, and the realization of the chances of each program participant in the future.

The stories about the educational program were also supplemented by the program’s teachers, Mykola Shcherbyna,  a specialist in mobile device protection, one of the reverse engineering specialists, and   Oleg Gutik, a unique cryptologist, an expert in digital codes, languages, and algorithms.

Students of various courses completed their acquaintance with this educational program, sharing with their future colleagues the features of their studies, recreation, and extracurricular activities, as well as opportunities to develop their talents, which in fact only help in their studies.

Participants of the Afternoon Day had the opportunity to get acquainted with interesting cybersecurity tasks at Cyber ​​Quest . The winners and all participants of the quest were awarded prizes from partner companies SoftServe, U+, 501 Company, Lviv IT Cluster.

We hope to soon see all the participants, certainly talented children, among the ranks of applicants for the Cybersecurity educational program at our University.
